Your card is advertising. Treat it that way.

A card you hand to prospects is marketing under most state rules, which means brokerage and licence details, and fair-housing-safe language.

Why this matters here

A digital business card handed to a prospective client is advertising. It is not a private contact note, and the fact that it lives at a link does not change what it is.

Most US states require your brokerage name to appear on your advertising, and many require your licence number as well. The exact rule is set by your state's real estate commission and by your broker's own policy, which is often stricter.

Check your state commission's advertising rule and your broker's policy before you publish. Nothing here is legal advice, and the requirements genuinely differ by state.

How to do it on the card

  1. 1Put your licence number in the License field on the Details tab. It appears in your email signature automatically as well.
  2. 2Put your brokerage in the Company field. Both come from the profile, so neither gets typed twice.
  3. 3Add the Brokerage & licence section to your card and leave it visible.
  4. 4Check your broker's policy on logo placement and required wording — some require the brokerage logo at a set size, or specific text.

Fair housing applies to your card copy

Everything you write in your headline, About and Areas served sections is advertising copy, and the same rules apply as to a listing description.

Describe your work and verifiable facts. Do not describe who lives somewhere, or who a place would suit.

Avoid
"Family-friendly neighbourhoods", "safe area", "great for young professionals", "perfect for empty nesters", "walk to St. Anne's", "exclusive community".
Instead
"Listing and buyer representation in Scottsdale and Cave Creek", "18 years in the east valley", "Certified Residential Specialist".
The test
If the sentence describes a person rather than a property or a service, rewrite it.
