What actually earns a place on your card
The discipline is subtraction. What to lead with, what to bury, and the sections most agents add and then regret.
One question per section
Ask what a stranger holding your card in a driveway is trying to do. Almost always it is one of three things: reach you now, find out whether you cover their area, or work out whether you are any good.
Order your sections in that order and you will be ahead of most cards you have seen.
Lead with these
- Tap actions
- Call, text and email as buttons. Someone standing in front of a house should not be copying a phone number.
- Save to contacts
- Already at the top and not movable, deliberately. It is the whole point.
- Your booking link
- If you have one. A tap beats a phone tag exchange, and it is the only section that converts browsing into a calendar entry.
Earn their place
- Areas served
- Cheap to add and answers the second question directly. Use place names people say out loud, not MLS area codes.
- Reviews
- Two good ones beat six vague ones. Name the source. Only ever use words a client actually wrote.
- Listings
- Worth it if they are current. A card showing a listing that sold in spring reads as neglect.
- Brokerage and licence
- Not optional if you are licensed — see the compliance guide. It also happens to build trust.
Usually a mistake
- A long About section
- Nobody standing in a driveway reads four paragraphs about your philosophy. Three lines, or none.
- Every social account you own
- Link the two you actually post on. A dead Twitter account from 2019 is evidence, and not the kind you want.
- A note block you forgot about
- Time-limited notes are the most useful section and the easiest to leave up for a year. Put a reminder in your phone when you add one.
On photos
Use a headshot where your face fills most of the frame. The card renders it small, and a full-length photo at that size is a person-shaped smudge.
If your headshot is more than about three years old, that is the thing to fix before anything on this list. People compare it to you.
